DM Minerals Group Pty Ltd (DM Minerals), founded by Doctor Motswadire in 2015. Doctor Motswadire is currently serving as Group Chief Executive Officer. The company is an integrated mining and mineral processing services partner, a unique total and focused solution outsourcing company that offers innovative, integrated solutions to the challenges facing host Mining houses across the entire value chain. The entity is a specialist mining and metals company in the outsourced operation and maintenance of processing plants, mining, bulk material handling, tailings management, technical and metallurgical services.
The business principle of DM Minerals is very simple “do business unusual and challenge the status quo”. When entering relationships with customers, the business offers performance guarantees. The culture of the company is to deliver a more efficiently operated and maintained plant as well as offer productive outsourced mineral processing solutions.
The company was born from the experience and passion that Doctor gained whilst working for various corporates. His dream was to build this empire that provided exceptional and efficient support to mining entities whilst maintaining exemplary stakeholder relations with his clients. And that he achieved with flying colours when he landed a contract with Sasol Mining for the bulk material handling, tailings and discard management of their on-ground and under-ground facilities. This was a breakthrough event for the company, and this proved an upward trajectory ever since.
Some of DM Minerals of the projects that the company is/have been involved with include bulk material handling at Thubelisha Shaft and Twistdraai Export Plant at the Sasol Twistdraai Export Mine, a joint venture for material handling at South32 and fine coal beneficiation project at the Coal Slurry Recovery Plant, Crushing and Screening of coal at Glencore Coal South Africa’s Impunzi Colliery.
DM Minerals received loan funding from the Sasol Siyakha Trust to purchase equipment in order to meet their contractual obligations to Sasol Mining, which not only grew the business but also added to company’s asset register and turnover. Thus, providing the landscape to expand and bid for new contracts. The shift from leased equipment to business owned equipment resulted in an increase of over 10% in their performance KPI. Having started the company with only two people, DM minerals has grown to QSE level and currently employs 50 permanent people and 16 subcontractors One of the strategic ambitions of DM Minerals is to be ISO 41001 accredited by July 2019 and this company is well on track to achieving that, thanks to Sasol Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD). The ISO standard as well as Accounting and Payroll Systems were part of ESD’s development support interventions provided to DM Minerals.
The systems helped to improve operational efficiency and safety in the workplace. Their recent achievements boast 161 days incident free, reaching a 1-year injury free record and having a green safety audit status at Sasol Twistdraai Export Mine.
