Empowering underprivileged youth through education

In our efforts and commitment to empowering local communities, DM Minerals Group® has launched an initiative that aims to provide long-term support and opportunities to underprivileged youth. The inaugural beneficiary of this program is Tharollo Nkosi, a bright young mind from Sibongamandla High School in Kriel, whose future has taken a promising turn.
Tharollo represents the first step in a broader effort to address the challenges faced by talented but disadvantaged students. His story began with our corporate social responsibility initiative last year, where we sought ways to uplift the communities in which we operate. Conversations with Sibongamandla High School Principal, Zanele Mohlala, highlighted a glaring issue: many students at the school excel academically but face limited opportunities due to their financial circumstances.
Principal Mohlala, whose dedication to the school and its students is evident in their consistent academic achievements, played a pivotal role in identifying areas where support was needed. "Our students have immense potential, but the lack of financial support after matric often leaves them unable to pursue higher education," she shared.

Taking these insights to heart, DM Minerals Group® then set out to bridge this gap, starting with Tharollo. This fully funded scholarship marks the beginning of a larger vision to support more students in the coming years.
"Our commitment goes beyond business; it's about creating lasting value for the communities we operate in. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools to drive transformation and upliftment. Tharollo's journey is just the start, and we are dedicated to expanding this initiative to ensure many more deserving students get the opportunities they need to succeed." - said DM Minerals Group® CEO, Doctor Motswadire.
While this is just the start, it is a significant step forward. The long-term goal is to partner with more schools and expand this program, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind due to financial barriers. By empowering young individuals like Tharollo, DM Minerals Group® aims to contribute to building a stronger, more resilient future for local communities.
Tharollo is set to embark on an exciting journey as he begins his Mechanical Engineering studies at the University of Johannesburg. With a passion for innovation and problem-solving, he looks forward to making a meaningful impact in the field. Tharollo's journey is one of hope and possibility; a reminder that, together, we can turn aspirations into achievements.
